About GetEasyQR
Generating a QR code shouldn't require a monthly subscription, a sign-up form, or handing over your personal data.
Why we built this
GetEasyQR started with a frustrating experience. Our founder needed to generate a few QR codes for a local community event — a simple task. Take a URL, turn it into a code, download it, put it on a flyer.
Every tool on the first page of Google wanted an email address just to get started. Most of them silently generated "Dynamic" QR codes by default, without explaining what that actually meant or why it mattered.
The flyers were printed and handed out. Three days later, the codes stopped working. A "14-day free trial" had expired. Reactivating them would cost $15 a month. Codes already printed on physical flyers were effectively held hostage.
That experience led to GetEasyQR. The goal was simple: build the opposite of what's out there. Something fast, private, and genuinely free.
Your data stays on your device
A QR code is an open standard invented in 1994. Nobody owns it, so nobody should charge you to create one.
When you use GetEasyQR — whether for a URL, a vCard, or your home WiFi password — the generation happens entirely in your browser. The QR image is drawn on your device using the HTML Canvas API.
Nothing is sent to our servers. We don't store WiFi passwords. We don't log the phone numbers you enter. We don't harvest email addresses from your vCards. Once you close the tab, it's gone.
Why we don't offer dynamic QR codes
Dynamic QR codes don't contain your actual destination. They contain a short URL that points to a vendor's tracking server, which intercepts the scan, logs the user's location and device, then redirects them to your intended URL.
That setup has three real problems for most users:
- Privacy: A third-party server is tracking every person who scans your code.
- Subscription lock-in: The vendor controls the redirect. Stop paying, and your printed code breaks immediately.
- Fragility: If their server goes down, your code stops working. There's also an added redirect delay on every scan.
We only generate static QR codes. Your data is embedded directly in the image. No server required. It'll scan just as reliably in 20 years as it does today.
How we keep the site running
Hosting and development aren't free. Since we don't charge subscription fees or sell user data, the site is funded by standard display advertising through Google AdSense — a few small banners on the page. No pop-ups, no full-screen takeovers.
Our commitments
- No mandatory accounts or sign-up gates.
- No storing or harvesting the data you enter.
- No artificially degraded downloads to push upgrades.
- Always static, permanent QR codes.
